Post Doc position (2,5 years) with focus on public opinion and European integration research

The Vienna Center of Electoral Research (VieCER) announces a vacant post doc position in the project ‘RECONNECT – Reconciling Europe with its Citizens through Democracy and Rule of Law’.

RECONNECT is a multidisciplinary research project, carried out by 18 research institutions and led by the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies at KU Leuven. The work package of the H2020 project lead by Sylvia Kritzinger and Carolina Plescia at the University of Vienna aims to study citizen perceptions of democracy and the rule of law in the EU and possible scenarios of reform. In particular, it focuses on the one hand on the extent to which discourse on the EU at the elite level resonate and proliferate at the citizen level and on the other hand, on what would be the ideal EU in the eyes of citizens. Job Description

  • International publishing and presentation activities
Profile of qualification
  • Completed PhD in the Social Sciences, preferably in Political Science 
  • Research interest in public opinion (e.g. attitudes, opinions, values) and European integration research
  • Excellent knowledge of a quantitative methods
  • Experience with survey methods and statistical analysis
  • Excellent or very good English skills (German preferred but not essential)

 

The contract runs for 28 months à 40 hours/week (starting date: November 1st 2018). The gross monthly remuneration is 3.711,10 € / 14 times a year (according to the collective bargaining agreement for Academic University staff).
